Barbara Ann Corcoran
Barbara Ann Corcoran (born March 10 1949) is an American businesswoman, investor and speaker. She is also a consultant, speaker and syndicated columnist. She is also an author, and television personality. She founded The Corcoran Group, a real estate brokerage located in New York City, which she sold to NRT for $66 million in 2001. She shortly after, she left the company. Corcoran has been a part of 12 of ABC's Shark Tank seasons. As of February 2020 she had closed 53 deals. The most significant of these was a purchase of $350,000 to Coverplay at 40 percent. Corcoran was born in Edgewater, New Jersey, the second child of 10 in a middle class Irish-Catholic family. Florence Corcoran was Florence's mom and also a housekeeper. Her father, Edwin W. Corcoran Jr. moved from job to job during Corcoran's youth. Her family sometimes relied upon free food delivery from a nearby grocery store. Corcoran remembers her father as an alcohol-dependent drunkard who often treated her mother with disrespect and disrespect, particularly after he had been drinking. Corcoran was a struggle in school and was later diagnosed with dyslexia. Corcoran started high school in St. Cecilia High School Englewood following her departure from her Catholic elementary school. Corcoran dropped a few classes during her first year and transferred to Leonia High School where she was a D student.
